Last weekend something very important came back into my life ...
That's right, Berry Berry Kix is back!
Has anybody else been missing this cereal and not been able to get their hands on it?
For the last almost four years we've been together, whenever John and I would go to the grocery store, we'd always look up and down the cereal isle, just in case Berry Berry Kix was magically on the shelf once again. I'm not sure why we kept up the dream, kept hope alive that BBK was still out there somewhere. I guess you could say that we're dreamers.
And last Saturday our dream came true. When John picked up the box of Kixx at Target, I couldn't believe my eyes! But it's for reals.
I'm not sure why I was lusting after BBK so bad -- maybe it's because I couldn't have it? Must be all those childhood memories (don't you love that I'm doing another post about memories and cereal from my childhood? ha.). Since my parents only bought me and my sis healthy-ish cereals like Wheat, Rice and Corn Chex and Cherrios, Berry Berry Kix must have been such a treat! How cute!
I guess since now I'm on a roll from my last post, I should prolly point out that I think "mother-approved" is a wee bit sexist. Isn't that term a bit dated? Shouldn't the cereal be "mother & father approved"? Sure, some kids don't have a father -- but some kids don't have a mother either. And I just think it's sexist to assume that a kid's mother would be the only one giving approval over what her child eats. Shouldn't it be a team effort with both mom and dad in how a child is raised? That's just my opinion. OK, I'll get off my soapbox now.
Anyways, go get yourself a box of Berry Berry Kix! They're Sarah approved!
* p.s. Maybe it would have made more sense to name this post "It's back" but "They're back" had just much more of a Gremlins ring to it. (Is that where that saying's from?) And besides, I'm supposed to follow grammar rules and such all day long at work so I say there are no rules here! I'm such a rebel. ha.
