Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

This is our 4th Christmas since Johnny and I first moved in together. We've decided this little guy might be our best tree yet!

I was so excited that our new place came with a fireplace, especially because it meant we get to hang up stockings! Well, at our old place we also hung stockings but it wasn't as exciting because we hung them on the TV stand. Hee. And I love our new stockings! They're so bright and fun and I like their cheesy pom-poms!

Since John favors the white lights and I love the multi-colored lights, we always compromise and hang both white and colored lights on our tree.

Here are just a few of our favorites ornaments we've collected so far ...

1. I gave this one to Johnny in 2005, the first Christmas we shared living together. I think it looks just like us! Johnny accidentally dropped the ornament this year and our heads fell off, but no worries -- after a dab of super glue, we were back in business. I know we're going to hold onto this ornament forever.

2. Since John loves to surf, my mom has given John a few surfing Santas over the years. John and I agree that this chubby guy is our favorite. Oh my goodness, isn't he too adorable?!

3. Charlie's ornament. Eeek! I love that his ornament is an angel because that fluffy orange boy is such a sweetheart. And it even has his little (ok, not so little) belly too! Oh how I love that Charlie!

4. This year we have both a star and an angel gracing the top of the tree. We picked up the angel on our honeymoon last year.

5. John said I had to include this one. It's a random one we picked up at Cost Plus/World Market last year but for some reason John is in love with it. It's a freakin bear driving a car! With a present on top of his vehicle! Man, that bear is prepared for Christmas. Look at his serious expression. It's no joke.

Oh, and one more thing - I have to share what my mom surprised me with this year. A wreath made out of buttons! I'm in love!

By the way -- what's your favorite Christmas song?

My favorites are "The Christmas Song," "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas."

p.s. And favorite Christmas album is "A Charlie Brown Christmas" by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. LOVE!

p.p.s. Ok, two more good ones - "All I want for Christmas is you" and "I've got my love to keep me warm."

Cuteness! I love decorating the tree and remembering where all of the ornaments came from. We have one that was my mom's first Christmas ornament-- a little blonde angel. She's kind of tattered but beautiful and always gets a special spot at the top of the tree.
I think "Little Drummer Boy" is my all time favorite, and all the songs I sang in church when I was little like "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "O Come O Come Emmanuel" always feel really Christmassy to me, so I'm really digging Sufjan Steven's Christmas album, recently discovered.
This is a long comment! Hee, hee.

All of these Christmas Ornament posts are making me soooo jealous that we decided not to put up a tree this year. I think I'm going to make Eric drag the ornaments out of the attic just so I can look at them.

I am totally serious.

I am in love with your button wreath. It is giving me great ideas for pressies to give people next year! Yay for cool new ideas!

My favorite Christmas
Ok for traditional songs I really really love "O Holy Night" ( )which is funny b/c I'm far from religious. Then another favorite is "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings" as sung by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan ( ) and of course "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses ( )

I don't really have a favorite Christmas song, but my Mom would always sing them despite me screaming not to as a child. Now I love it when my Mom sings Christmas songs around the house, but I would never tell her that.

Sarah -

You never fail to make me smile when I read you posts.

"Man, that bear is prepared for Christmas. Look at his serious expression. It's no joke."

I love you. It's true!

My favorite Christmas song is "Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time" by Paul McCartney.

Okay, I can't keep a straight face and say that. It's the one that REFUSED TO LEAVE MY HEAD.

I love "I'll Be Home for Christmas"!

I love your ornaments! Those are adorable, and traditions and such are so much fun!

Favorite Christmas song... well, tough to choose just one because the Manheim Steamroller albums make me SO happy and nostalgic for Christmases past with my family. But I do love Linus and Lucy's theme from Charlie Brown Christmas. AND the God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings rendition by Barenaked Ladies and Sara McLachlan.

Christmas music makes me happy.

Those are some seriously cute ornaments. I wish Andrew and I had an ornament from our first Christmas together! (Well, we technically do... it's a snowman made out of plastic ice cubes, but I broke part of it off within minutes of giving it to him two years ago! hehe!)

Yay for glue! You guys can't be headless for the holidays :)

My favorite Christmas album is kinda cheesy... 98 Degrees! I love it. The whole album!

Oh and my fave christmas song is "the christmas song" or "santa clause is coming to town"

Cute wreath! Anything made out of buttons is instantly 10 times cuter.

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" makes me sad... I love "Baby It's Cold Outside."

Hahaha! LOVE that bear! :D Glad we were able to glue our heads back on. I was so bummed when it fell! It's like my favorite ornament (yes, I like it even more than the bear. Hard to believe, I know). Love our tree this year too! Glad I get to share it with ya!

So cute! We don't have an ornament yet, which I didn't realize was a big deal until a woman I work with told me she was making me and origami ornament for our first Christmas. Said it would be bad luck without it! Whew!

P.S. No dancing at your wedding?! I can't believe it!

I love your Christmas tree and all of your beautiful ornaments! How cute! My favorite classic Christmas song is "O Holy Night" and my favorite modern Christmas song is "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah. Love it! :)

Aww that First Christmas ornament is so adorable. And my favorite song is the same as Katie's "all I want for Christmas is you"

I think that is actually Cale's least favorite one because I always desperately try to sing it like Mariah Carey and it comes out sounding like a screaming cat. lol
