Going to P-town!

So, you know what's the most awesome ever?! Last night Johnny and I booked our plane tickets to go to Portland! Eeeeeeee! I am very, very excited!

We have been talking about the trip for a while now and it feels so good and so final to have actually booked our tickets. Yay! We're really going!

Mr. Rios and I are headed to the "Rose City" at the end of April and we're going to be staying with these crazy kids - Eric and Rachel. Ah, I love those guys! I can't wait! It is destined to be a good time. Btw, if you never got a chance to read my E&R post, I highly recommend it, if for nothing else but the Jacob Vols video!

A trip in April means that by that point, Ashley and Chris will be moved into their amazing dream home in Portland! I am totally looking forward to also meeting up with these silly lovebirds! After our awesome San Fran double date, I'm thinking a triple date might be in order! Huh, huh, what do you think guys?! Or maybe game night? Maybe I should bring a board game as my carry on.

Besides spending time catching up and hanging out with two of the coolest couples of all time, I am really looking forward to checking out Portland.

It seems like every indie hipster (er bordering on grandpa hipster by this point?) have packed up their collection of skinny jeans and hightailed Fresno for Portland. And now with both E&R and A&C relocating to P-town, it makes me think that maybe those kids know their stuff and Portland really will live up to the hype.

E&R have been talking up Portland ever since they moved there in June and have told me and John that as soon as we come to visit, we will fall in love with that corner of Oregon and will then load up a U-Haul for P-town in no time. Although it took me and John three and a half years to even leave our first apartment for nicer digs, I guess anything is possible! I will definitely report back my findings to this very blog.

Oh, and guess what's random - the morning after we bought our plane tickets, Glamour.com posted this piece -- A Glamour Girl's Guide to Portland. How timely! I can't wait to check out adorable restaurants like Pix Patisserie or Le Happy, as well as hiking, biking and shopping at cute little shops like Frances May. Oooh I wanna go now!

Anyways, so you can tell I'm pretty pumped about the trip. So -- what exciting trips do you have planned for this year? Or, if you don't have anything planned, what's a dream trip you're saving up for? My dream trip is Greece!

If you're one of my lovely commenters, I would love to hear about your trip -- but if you're a lurker, I think you owe it to the internetz to let your voice be heard. I mean, it was delurking day a few days ago (man, I'm so fashionably late!) and if this scary little graphic doesn't convince you, I don't know what will! Could that little man get any creepier?! Ahh!

(I stole the Eric & Rachel picture from Rachel's MySpace because I'm a stalker and I stole the Ashley & Chris picture from Ashley's blog. Photo credit for the Portland pic goes to http://www.icochotnews.com)

Your trip sounds fabulous! I wish we could meet up with cool crazy bloggers like you guys!

Our vacation this year is a 12 day trip to Sanibel Island in Florida. We're going at the end of November, for Thanksgiving. I can barely contain myself!

I'm jealous - I'm absolutely dying to go to Portland. My very very hip and fun friends Erin & Josh live there and they love it.

We have a long-weekend trip planned to Ft. Myers, FL in March to go to some Red Sox spring training games. I'm pumped b/c as big of a Sox fan as I am, I have NEVER been to a spring training game. Other than that - we don't have anything going on. We just had our honeymoon this past June (to the Dominican Republic) and it was the first real trip we'd taken in three years!

Also, you MUST go to Greece sometime! It is my favorite place of all time (and I lived in Germany for a while and traveled all over). Athens isn't the best, but the islands are amazing. Santorini (Thira) was by far my favorite of the three I went to (Santorini, Ios and Naxos). Ios was also a blast - but I fear I'm a little too old to go back. Happy hour was between midnight-2am and NOTHING was open during the day. Haha.

Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

That's awesome Sarah! I wish I knew more people in other states! I was just thinking this morning, as I was getting ready that i hope my savings account can go towards a trip this year ;) Although...I'm sure most of our plane trips will have to be to Michigan to visit Chris' family (or else I'd feel real guilty!). We'll see! I'd love to go to Oregon, my cousin just transferred to school up there!

oh crap...I just realized...am AM going to Hawaii this year for my cousin's wedding (June). I'm retarded! How could that skip my MIND?!!?! :) :)

I love Portland...it's only about 4 hours north of where I live!

It'll probably be a little rainy in April, but there's still some great places to go when you're there! Make sure your hosts take you to Nobb Hill/the Pearl District. There are some great boutiques up there. Also, while you are visiting the boutiques, a visit to the sit-down Pizzacato is a must!

Poooooooooooooortlaaaaaaaaaaaaand, it's a hell of a toooooooooooooooooooooown! Well, that might be Chicago, but I'll be damned if Portland doesn't turn out to be just as/even more awesome. Let's go babers!

OK I haven't been reading that long so I don't know if you are the kind of veggie that is OK with seafood, but if you are, hit up Jake's Crawfish. Mmmm. It's one of the top 10 seafood restaurants in the country.

Also there? Cupcake Jones. Mmmm.

Personally, I liked Seattle better than Portland, but I was only in Portland for a few hours duuring our PNW trip last May.

Since our visit, my sister (who lives in Salem) has made several more trips and says she loves it like a second SF.

Oh, Portland! I love it so! (Okay, so, I've only been there a couple times years ago, but I still love it. I do.) :) You are going to have an awesome time! Can't wait to hear about it and see all the lovely photos you will take.

Jay and I have a roadtrip planned in March to go visit his brother, sister-in-law and their children. They live in Minnesota, so it's going to take a while to get there...I'm seriously in love with road trips, so I can't wait! (Oh, and Greece is one of my dream vacations, too...)

PS: Have I complimented your new banner yet? Because it rocks.

Oh man. Your trip to Portland is going to be the best thing ever and yes, you WILL want to grab yourself a U-Haul reservation and pack up those little kitties! Also, we will fly down and help you drive up with all your stuff. If will be a roadtrip to remember. But first: you must come here... Eric and I basically talk about it almost every day, deciding about which cool things are the highest priority to show you! It's gonna be a fun, jampacked time. But not too jampacked. Full of relaxing and chilling out, too. Portland is the perfect combo of fun and chill. YOU WILL SEEEEEE!!

that is going to be one fun trip, girly. I'm so excited for you and Johnny! And how fun that you'll get to visit Chris and Ashley in their new home.
Portland looks BEAUTIFUL. I'd love to visit there someday.

Unfortunately, we've already used up most of our travel time and money for this year... plus, there's the whole new baby thing too... :) so, no, nothing big planned for this year. But I want to travel as much as possible in the future! I need to go to Switzerland someday-- where my father was born. That's a dream trip for me.
