Alert! Alert! A Giveaway Is Going Down!

I've been wanting to do a little giveaway for quite a while and the time is finally here! Since I first started blogging nearly two and a half years ago I've had the best luck with online giveaways and I think it's high time I passed on my giveaway karma to one of you, my oh so lovely readers!

Here's what my very first giveaway features:

1. A copy of a Keel's Simple Diary in royal blue.
Keel's website describes its diary as offering "structure for those who don't have time to wonder, making it easy to record life's moments. It gives the pleasure of a quick response and the sense that no matter what's wrong, more it's right."

I had first heard of the diary when Rachel McAdams gave it a shout out in the January issue of "Vogue." I became more intrigued when the dear Kyla Roma reviewed the diary a few months ago as one of her "Friday Finds." Although I've never used one of these diaries they sound totally silly and super fun! I plan on ordering one for myself soon.

Click here to take a peek inside.

2. A Butterball Bath Bomb from Lush
Last summer I got the chance to visit one of Lush' stores in person. I had heard a lot about their products and the bath bombs I picked out certainly lived up to my expectations! One of my favorites I tried out was the vanilla, custard creamy Butterball. I really loved this one because the scent was super yummy without being overpowering. Lush's website promises this bath bomb will moisturize your skin as you bathe and I can totally attest to that. After getting out of the bathtub I felt totally relaxed and my skin felt super soft. I love that this company makes their products by hand with little or no preservatives or packaging. Lush only uses vegetarian ingredients and does not test their products on animals.

3. A copy of "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead."
What can I say?  One of the best movies ever. I recently realized I only have this movie on VHS and that's no good! I figured someone else out there may also need a copy on DVD. Scratch that. Everyone needs a copy of this 1991 classic! Christina Applegate totally rocks this flick as Sue Ellen Crandell. One day she's flipping burgers at the Clown Dog and the next day she lands a job as an executive administrative assistant at a local clothing manufacturer by faking her resume. Awesome. I wish I had some petty cash!

And about the whole "summer" part of this giveaway ...

Fresno, Calif., summers don't mess around. Weather.com says last Friday was 107 degrees although my car claims it was 112. I've been trying not to complain about the heat too much this summer because 1) it's pointless and won't change anything. 2) I just think about my dad who works outside as a landscaper or John's dad who works outside in the fields and I know I have it good in my air-conditioned condo, office and car. I'm so grateful John and I aren't living at our first apartment where the sun blasted straight into our living room and that I'm no longer driving my 1989 Volvo station wagon sans A/C. Also 3) complaining just seems to make everyone even more grumpy.

Although Central Valley summers are not my favorite that doesn't mean the season shouldn't be celebrated. If it's going to be 102 degrees today, I might as well revel in the sunshine before melting away. And, as we always say in Fresno -- it's a dry heat!

I love the 8 p.m. sunsets, the perfectly cool summer nights, swimming, fresh fruit, sundresses, floaty skirts, flip flops, new sandals, pedicures, raspberry lemonade and popsicles. I'm looking forward to going to the beach next month, a canoe trip down the San Joaquin River, enjoying the hours of sunshine after work and more summer evening walks with my boy and pup.

Your turn!

To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment telling me a few of your favorite things about summer and/or something you're looking forward to before summer 2010 is over.

My favorite parts of summer are baseball games, trips to the lake, pedicures, bbqs and swimming.

Although this year by the end of the summer I am looking forward to meeting my little guy and no longer being pregnant :)

What a great contest and I can't get over how cute the new blog design is.

I love summer sunsets and the colour of the sky at night. Vancouver is grey for so many months - it's awesome to see a navy blue sky at night during the summer. I love eating popsicles (and sneaking licks to the pups when Shawn's not looking.) I love waking up to sunshine and having so many hours of daylight.

Wonderful giveaway...love all the things that you picked out to give away! :)

Up here in the Sacramento Valley it gets hot, hot, hot as well and I am definitely thankful that I don't work outside (I can only stand the heat for short periods of time! ;))... but I am looking forward to a work-related trip to Hawaii next week :) (all paid for, yay!)

Yay you're awesome Sarah. Um, you know how much I LOVE summer (sarcasm). The best things are birthdays, 4th of July and iced drinks/cold desserts :)

A few summer favorites? ICE CREAM. being from MN and now in CO, winter is not a good time for ice cream because we're already frozen enough. So in the summer I want it ALL THE TIME. Or more specifically gelato, as Boulder has a gelato place on every single corner. So yes, ice cream. And sundresses.

Weeeee!! This giveaway is SO fun! How have I been besties with you for and still never seen Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead?! Well, I did see it once when I was a kid but I don't really remember it.
Let's watch sometime!
My favorite things about summer are MY BIRTHDAY! (woo!) ice water, popsicles, beach trips, cool summer evenings and spending time with my kiddos!! :D
Hooray summer!

I love summer because it means we are camping, swimming, eating fresh local veggies and hitting up our favorite seasonal ice cream stand. Summer is way to quick in Buffalo and we squeeze as much of our faves in as we can!

Cool contest! I LOVE fresh, local STRAWBERRIES in the summer! I can not get enough! Yum!

Lets see if I get to comment. I've been trying to comment on your blog for ages...since you posted the berry kix. (I know the song, btw) for some reason I always get kicked off. :(

those diaries are cool.
Best about summer....sleeping in, bomb pops (the red, white and blue ones), roasted corn and flip flop tan lines.

Love the new look of your blog.

Thanks for doing this great giveaway. My favorite thing about summer is sailing! Nothing is better than being out on the water...

But, I'm a fall girl at heart - I love the cooler weather, the changing leaves and wearing comfy sweaters.

I don't love the summer heat either, but I do love flip flops and snow cones! :)

My favorite thing is outdoor concerts. LA is pretty temperate, so it's great to go out in a sundress, drink wine and snack until the sun goes down you put on a cardigan just in time for the headliner.

Your blog is precious! My favorite thing about summer is when you realize how perfect the breeze feels and you don't need a sweater or jacket. I'm also looking forward to a few more summer-friday picnics in the park before it slips away!

Thanks :) :) Hope I win!
