I've been wanting to do a little giveaway for quite a while and the time is finally here! Since I first started blogging nearly two and a half years ago I've had the best luck with online giveaways and I think it's high time I passed on my giveaway karma to one of you, my oh so lovely readers!
Here's what my very first giveaway features:
1. A copy of a Keel's Simple Diary in royal blue.
Keel's website describes its diary as offering "structure for those who don't have time to wonder, making it easy to record life's moments. It gives the pleasure of a quick response and the sense that no matter what's wrong, more it's right."
I had first heard of the diary when Rachel McAdams gave it a shout out in the January issue of "Vogue." I became more intrigued when the dear Kyla Roma reviewed the diary a few months ago as one of her "Friday Finds." Although I've never used one of these diaries they sound totally silly and super fun! I plan on ordering one for myself soon.

2. A Butterball Bath Bomb from Lush
Last summer I got the chance to visit one of Lush' stores in person. I had heard a lot about their products and the bath bombs I picked out certainly lived up to my expectations! One of my favorites I tried out was the vanilla, custard creamy Butterball. I really loved this one because the scent was super yummy without being overpowering. Lush's website promises this bath bomb will moisturize your skin as you bathe and I can totally attest to that. After getting out of the bathtub I felt totally relaxed and my skin felt super soft. I love that this company makes their products by hand with little or no preservatives or packaging. Lush only uses vegetarian ingredients and does not test their products on animals.
3. A copy of "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead."
What can I say? One of the best movies ever. I recently realized I only have this movie on VHS and that's no good! I figured someone else out there may also need a copy on DVD. Scratch that. Everyone needs a copy of this 1991 classic! Christina Applegate totally rocks this flick as Sue Ellen Crandell. One day she's flipping burgers at the Clown Dog and the next day she lands a job as an executive administrative assistant at a local clothing manufacturer by faking her resume. Awesome. I wish I had some petty cash!
And about the whole "summer" part of this giveaway ...
Fresno, Calif., summers don't mess around. Weather.com says last Friday was 107 degrees although my car claims it was 112. I've been trying not to complain about the heat too much this summer because 1) it's pointless and won't change anything. 2) I just think about my dad who works outside as a landscaper or John's dad who works outside in the fields and I know I have it good in my air-conditioned condo, office and car. I'm so grateful John and I aren't living at our first apartment where the sun blasted straight into our living room and that I'm no longer driving my 1989 Volvo station wagon sans A/C. Also 3) complaining just seems to make everyone even more grumpy.
Although Central Valley summers are not my favorite that doesn't mean the season shouldn't be celebrated. If it's going to be 102 degrees today, I might as well revel in the sunshine before melting away. And, as we always say in Fresno -- it's a dry heat!
I love the 8 p.m. sunsets, the perfectly cool summer nights, swimming, fresh fruit, sundresses, floaty skirts, flip flops, new sandals, pedicures, raspberry lemonade and popsicles. I'm looking forward to going to the beach next month, a canoe trip down the San Joaquin River, enjoying the hours of sunshine after work and more summer evening walks with my boy and pup.
To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment telling me a few of your favorite things about summer and/or something you're looking forward to before summer 2010 is over.
